15 Apr Help with Sex Addiction: Reclaim Power, Focus & Control
Help with sex addiction.
Sex addiction is a silent saboteur — especially for high-performers in business, sport, and the public eye. Behind the scenes, compulsive sexual behaviour can lead to burnout, broken relationships, and devastating professional fallout.
Sex addiction can look like:
- Excessive masturbation (to the point where a person can’t focus unless they have had a sexual ‘release,’ or sometimes multiple)
- Compulsive promiscuity (inability to say no to opportunities that arise for intimate encounters or purposefully seeking sexual encounters)
- Obsessive communication and encounters with Web Cam models/escorts/Only Fans
- Compulsively engaging in sex work for validation and sexual release
- Affairs or frequent infidelities whilst in a monogamous relationship
Let me be clear masturbation, promiscuity, booking sex workers or engaging in sex work are not a problem per se, so at what point do they become a problem?
That is down to the individual and is dependent on their level of dependency on the above to function effectively on a day-to-day basis, manage their life, nurture healthy, loving personal relationships and perform effectively and optimally at work, plus how much time and energy are invested and ‘lost’ due to the inability to control their behaviour.
In my opinion, more importantly, it’s whether a person’s actions are in alignment with their values and whether they nourish self and enhance well-being, or whether their behaviours and choices around sex, potentially hurt others and lead to feelings of guilt, anger, self-loathing, low self-esteem, self-destruction/sabotage and shame.
When Sex Becomes a Distraction and detrimental to well being
- Russell Brand has spoken candidly about using sex as a form of escape, damaging his relationships and sense of self.
- Lily Phillips, an OnlyFans model, gained notoriety for her controversial plan to sleep with 1,000 men in a day, highlighting the extreme lengths individuals may go to for validation and attention.
For high-achieving individuals, sex addiction isn’t about pleasure — it’s about compulsion. And the costs are high:
- 🔻 Constant mental distraction
- 🔻 Damaged trust in personal and professional relationships
- 🔻 Risky decisions that can destroy a career
- 🔻 Guilt, shame, and emotional exhaustion
