01 Jun Healing from a Breakup: For Professionals who Power Through
Healing from a Breakup.
Whether you make the decision to end a relationship, it’s a mutual agreement or out of your control; breakups can shake the foundations of your world. Even if the relationship wasn’t perfect it can feel like a personal failure.
Relationships are at the core of our wellbeing on a personal and professional level, and when they fall apart, they can have a domino effect on our ability to function and perform. Subconsciously we often switch into survival mode.
Whether it ended suddenly or slowly unravelled, the emotional fallout is real. But healing from a breakup is possible, and it can be a powerful time for growth, clarity, and renewal. It’s often tempting to try and bypass the hurt and move on as quickly as possible. However that can be counterproductive and chronic busyness, the inability to switch off, over thinking and lack of sleep can all be trauma responses detrimental to the process of healing.
Common Signs You’re Blocked from Healing from a breakup
- You stay busy to avoid thinking about it
- You can’t sleep — your mind won’t stop racing
- You feel numb or disconnected from your body
- You’re overwhelmed by intense emotions and don’t know what to do with them
Why You’re Not Really “Fine” — Even if You Think You Are
Many people were never taught how to feel and process emotions. Instead, we learned to:
- Push through discomfort
- Stay “strong” for others
- Distract ourselves with work, screens, or routine
- Numb out with overthinking or staying constantly busy
- Use legal and/or illegal substances or risqué sex to seek escapism
This emotional shutdown is common — and often a trauma response. The truth is: you can’t heal what you don’t feel.
What if you could feel ALL your feelings without fear?
Process them, and allow them to move through you, and release them to facilitate healing from a breakup?
This is possible and I can show you how because I’ve been there and done it. It took me 45 years to realise I didn’t know how to effectively feel and process my emotions. Once I realised, I made it my mission to learn, share with others and teach emotional resilience.
How EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) can help you
EFT is a powerful, evidence-based practical approach that helps you:
- Release stuck emotions
- Calm your nervous system
- Process grief, guilt, anger, rejection, or fear — safely and gently
I guide you to reconnect with your body and emotions, even if that feels impossible right now. You don’t have to go through this alone.
How Hypnotherapy can help you heal from a breakup
Through client led hypnotherapy I teach self-hypnosis to:
- Aid in visualizing a positive future and breaking free from negative thought cycles.
- Rebuild self-confidence and a sense of self-worth.
- Detach from emotional ties to the past, providing the mental space for healing, and moving forwards.

5 Practical Tips for Healing
- Feel your feelings: Grief, anger, relief, guilt — all of these are valid. Allowing them helps you process and release.
- Set boundaries: No-contact can be healthy. It gives your mind and heart time to recalibrate.
- Reconnect with yourself: Do things that bring you joy — hobbies, friends, nature, or simply rest.
- Challenge unhelpful thoughts: Self-blame and “what ifs” can prolong pain. Work on building a more compassionate inner voice.
- Seek support: Talking to someone who gets it can make a huge difference in how you heal.
You Don’t Have to Do It Alone
Whether you’re struggling with emotional overwhelm, low self-worth, or simply feeling lost after your break-up, working with a therapist can help you make sense of your emotions and rebuild with confidence.
I specialize in helping people heal from heartbreak and rediscover their inner strength. Let’s work together to help you move forward with clarity, empowerment, and peace.
