01 Sep Parents Emotional Regulation Workshop & Kids Regulation Station for ADHD Parents
My Parents Emotional Regulation Workshop has been a huge success this year. We are home from the usual busy summer of festivals however this year I have been working in the children’s areas at both Soul Revolution and Into the Wild, offering my Regulation Station, a private space to book out for parents and children to regulate away from the chaos, and offering my Emotional Regulation workshop for parents.
Festivals are often filled with music, colour, and connection, but for many parents, especially those with ADHD, autism and all neurodivergent children, they can also feel overwhelming. Between juggling sensory overload, toddler meltdowns, and the pressure to “keep it all together,” parents often leave events more drained than refreshed.
That’s why I created the Parents Emotional Regulation Workshop and Kids Regulation Station: a calm, nurturing space at festivals where families can pause, reset, and learn practical tools to regulate emotions together.
Why Emotional Regulation Matters for Parents and Kids
Parenting is a rollercoaster. One moment your child is laughing, the next they’re melting down because of a loud noise or a misplaced toy. For parents, especially those managing their own ADHD, anxiety, or sensory sensitivities (myself included), these moments can be emotionally triggering.
Emotional regulation is the ability to recognise and manage your emotions without becoming overwhelmed or reactive. It’s not about being “perfectly calm” all the time; it’s about building tools to handle stress, frustration, and overstimulation in healthy ways.
When parents regulate their emotions, children feel safer and more secure. They learn from our modelling, which helps them develop their own emotional literacy. This cycle creates more harmony at home and in busy environments like festivals.
A Safe Space at Festivals: Parents Emotional Regulation Workshop
My Parents Emotional Regulation Workshop is designed for mums, dads, carers, and guardians to have a moment of breathing space. In these sessions, I share:
-
Simple grounding techniques to manage overwhelm in real time
-
Practical parenting strategies for toddlers and older children
-
Insights into ADHD and neurodivergence, how your brain works, and why regulation might feel harder for you
-
Permission to release guilt and shame around parenting struggles
Many parents tell me this is the first time they’ve felt truly seen and heard as they navigate the chaos of family life.
The Kids Regulation Station: A Calm, Sensory-Rich Haven
Alongside the workshop, the Kids Regulation Station is a sensory sanctuary where children can decompress and explore tools that support emotional balance. This space often includes:
-
Weighted blankets for comfort
-
Fidget toys for focus
-
A sensory swing for vestibular input
-
Books, games, and puzzles for quiet time
-
A balance board and movement toys for physical regulation
It’s more than a play area, it’s a carefully designed environment where kids can self-regulate while parents exhale and reset.
My moto is ALL big Feelings welcome!
What Parents Are Saying
Your feedback has been incredible, and it’s helping spread this work to more festivals and family spaces.
“Thank you so much Rebecca for your Parents Emotional Regulation workshop at Into the Wild festival—it was so hugely helpful, alongside offering a regulation station for kids. I would so recommend Rebecca’s services to any parent looking for support in regulating their own emotions as they parent as well as support for their children—she’s a wealth of warm, nurturing, non-judgmental and wise insights.”
This review highlights what makes this offering unique: it’s not just about the kids, and it’s not just about the parents. It’s a space where everyone’s needs matter.
Another parent shared:
“I would highly recommend Rebecca; she put faith in some of the things I was doing right, and gave me food for thought about certain things that could be improved upon, sensitively, regarding rearing a toddler when I have ADHD myself! We attended the emotional regulating workshop and went to regulation station.”
This shows how valuable these sessions are for ADHD parents who often feel misunderstood and overwhelmed. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s about building confidence and realistic strategies for your family.
Supporting Neurodivergent Families
ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence can add extra complexity to parenting. You might struggle with executive functioning, emotional intensity, or sensory sensitivities, which can make parenting toddlers or young children feel like climbing a mountain without a map.
That’s why this work is designed with neurodivergent families in mind:
-
The workshop validates your lived experience rather than telling you to “just try harder.”
-
The Kids Regulation Station offers a safe, stimulating environment for children who need extra sensory support.
-
Parents leave with practical, compassionate strategies they can use at home and in busy public spaces.
Why Festivals Are the Perfect Setting
Festivals are about community, creativity, and connection, which makes them the perfect place for families to experience emotional regulation tools. In a festival environment, there’s often less stigma, parents feel freer to ask for help and children have more opportunities to explore.
By bringing workshops and sensory stations into these spaces, we’re normalising emotional health as part of family life, not something reserved for therapy rooms.
